Harmony campuses from around the state recently participated at the district wide Junior Solar Sprint Competitions. On May 5th in Houston, 96 students in 46 teams from 11 schools participated in the event that consisted of students racing their cars and presenting their binders to judges. Coming in 1st place was Harmony Science Academy- Sugar Land. In Dallas, 20 teams from Garland, Carrollton, Fort Worth, and Euless participated in the competition, and coming in 1st place were 7th grade students from Harmony School of Innovation-Garland. The winners of these competitions qualified to go to Atlanta for the nationwide competition this summer. “Next step, we are getting ready to set out to Atlanta for national competition and hope will come back with many trophies,” said team coach Emine Y. The students begin preparing their cars by learning the key points in scoring, which helps them get ahead of their opponents.
