Harmony School of Advancement robotics team “Mohawk Warriors” has qualified to participate in the First Tech Challenge (FTC) World Championship in Houston, Tx from April 19-April 22 at the George R. Brown Convention Center. The team started the journey in January when they won the league championship, and advanced to the Southeast Texas Regional Championship where they made it to the semi finals. FTC teams are challenged to design, build, program and operate robots to compete in a head to head challenge. Students with the help of coaches and mentors learn to develop STEM skills and practice engineering principles. The league asks teams to raise funds, design and market their robot, and promote a team brand, all which are categories in the competition. This year the Mohawk Warriors raised 700 dollars hosting a movie night. “Amazing robots, spirited people/teams and friendly competition, make the championship a thrilling event” said Harmony’s team coach and engineering teacher Mr. Arykchiev. This is not the first time Mohawk Warriors made it to the World Championship. The team also competed in last year’s world championship in St. Louis, MO.
