12 students from Harmony School of Excellence-Austin were part of SEMI TECH U STEM camp, hosted by TEL and Texas State University. SEMI TECH U is a nationally acclaimed STEM camp that provides engaging activities for all participants and also expose them to education and career pathways, and the exciting jobs that exist in high tech industries. During this three-day event, students spent most of their time learning STEM skills that they can continue to use after high school. Students also participated in mock interviews, and listening to talks from STEM leaders like Dr. Mina Guirguis, Associate Professor at Texas State University. All participating students were split into teams that would compete in the HTU Solar Challenge, which challenged students to propose solar solutions that could help improve situations in third world countries. HSE-Austin students Nayeli V. and Maya A. were part of the team that won second place. The end of day three brought up the graduation event, that honored the participants success. Congratulations to all participating students!
