Ruhani A. isn’t intimidated by her subject. She’s committed to reducing the harmful effects of chemotherapy for cancer patients. Ruhani, age 12, is an eighth-grade student at Harmony School of Innovation in Fort Worth who is about to finish her second year in the lab of Andras Lacko, PhD, professor of Integrative Physiology & Anatomy and Pediatrics, at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. Researcher Rebecca Johnson, Ph.D., guides Ruhani’s work as she examines how nanoparticles or “sacks” hide certain drugs so cancer cells will accept them and leave healthy cells alone. “
