Four students from Harmony Science Academy-North Austin attended The Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program this summer. Students were granted the opportunity to visit IBM and ACC to learn more about coding. Participants learned the basics of computer science, and robotics while obtaining the exposure of tech industries, and mentorships from other women pioneers in their fields. Most participants have plans to pursue a career in computer science. This program has been proven to be such a success with several Alumni of this program going on to pursue computer science degrees at top universities like New York University and MIT, and have secured paid technical internships working alongside professionals in the field. Because of the success of this program, Ms. Suzan Dalgic from HSA-North Austin will now offer a Girls Who Code after school program to 25 students. Participating students were Vanessa V, Maria R, Semal G, and Lucia. We wish these ladies the best of luck in all their future undertakings. Harmony is excited about the opportunities that this program can provide for all Harmony girls, given the strong relationship it’s built with the organizers.
