Harmony’s very own STEM SOS Model is a pedagogical approach that is teacher-facilitated, learner-centered, inquiry-based, and interdisciplinary with project based learning. This year a few of Harmony’s finest STEM educators Mehmet G., Ismael E., and Yusuf D., were at the Leadership Summit presenting some of the top innovative projects that students have completed in past school years. For 10 years now Harmony has been working diligently creating a STEM curriculum that will push our students to the limit. Participating in local and national competitions such as the Bridge Design and Solar Car Challenge, bring out the best in our students and educators. Harmony with the help of community leaders has been able to provide students with the necessary materials to be successful. Access to STEM Labs like Fab Lab in El Paso, and Maker Workshop in Houston help provide our students with the necessary space to complete their projects. Our STEM Model has become such a predominant figure in STEM, that it is currently being replicated overseas at Indonesian based Sampoerna Academy. Sampoerna Academy is one of Indonesia’s top performing K-12 schools, offering modernized learning techniques. Harmony has made it a point to provide all our STEM teachers with the necessary training to be successful in providing all our students with a core-knowledge and skill-set to pursue STEM careers.
